On the morning of July 15, Beijing Royal Integrative Medicine Hospital welcomed four guests from far away. They were the teachers and students from College of Pharmacy, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As a world-famous Western Medicine University, these guests from far away expect to gain a deeper understanding of the distinctive culture of traditional Chinese medicine through this visit.

They focused on visiting the pharmacy of traditional Chinese medicine in our hospital. Before entering the pharmacy, they smelt the aroma of the traditional Chinese medicine. The aroma of the herbs released from the crevice of the door of the pharmacy and suddenly scented. When entered the room, what they saw was a row of neatly arranged cabinets of Chinese herbal medicine. Each drawer has the name of the corresponding Chinese herbal medicine. There are various kinds of Chinese herbal medicines in the cabinets. For the teachers and students from North Carolina who have rarely contacted traditional Chinese medicines at ordinary times, it’s a very different world. They were in the sea of traditional Chinese medicine and personally felt the shape, smell and touch of the medicine. At the same time, they listened to the traditional Chinese pharmacist’s introduction with interests on the name, properties and efficacy of the medicine, and asked questions on the different questions. In the Chinese medicine decoction room, the teachers and students watched the decoction of various traditional Chinese medicines in the pots, which made them felt even new. This visit gave them a deep experience of the unique charm of Chinese medicine culture.
